Relevant deets on Monday night’s first reading group
Monday’s the Night!
On Monday, at 6:30 p.m., we’ll dive into the first seven chapters of Alidsair MacIntyre’s After Virtue. This is open to all supporting subscribers: if you want to be part of this, but aren’t interested in subscribing—drop me a message, and we’ll work out a different plan.
The plan for discussion will work something like this:
I’ll open up with a brief overview to the chapters, highlighting some major themes and conversations that he’s stepping into, and then, we’ll open it up. My intent is make this as open-ended as possible, while acknowledging that there’s a good bit that MacIntyre presupposes of his readers.
It’s a work with a number of points of departure. As such, I want folks in the group to bring their own questions, and to make their own connections to other things they’re interested in, both theological and not.
Full caveat: I do not pretend to be an expert in MacIntyre, having taken a course on his work in graduate school. But his work continues to provoke and instruct in all kinds of ways. Looking forward to Monday!
If you’d like to join in the fun, consider becoming a support subscriber!
